With the April 26 release of eight classic Las Vegas
concert CDs, EMI Music Marketing (EMM) launches its
exclusive partnership with the City of Las Vegas as
the official record label partner for 2005's Las Vegas
Centennial Celebration. EMM has created a new record
label imprint, Las Vegas Centennial Records, the official
Las Vegas 100th Anniversary label, to present a new
series of CDs culling top classic performances recorded
at the city's fabled nightspots.
The commemorative series includes the release debut
of Vegas concerts from Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin,
as well as several previously unreleased performances
by Louis Prima and Keely Smith, classic performances
by Bobby Darin, Nancy Wilson and Wayne Newton, plus
two multiple artist collections boasting previously
unreleased concert tracks from many of music's top luminaries.
On May 10, Elvis Presley's Elvis: Live From Las Vegas
will continue the CD series, with additional titles
expected to follow.
EMI Music Marketing will actively promote the new titles
in conjunction with several high-profile Las Vegas Centennial
Celebration events. Syndicated talk radio host Tom Leykis
will broadcast live from Las Vegas on Friday, April
29 to kick off the CD series, and sweepstakes winners
from top music retail and radio network contests will
be flown to Las Vegas to experience a host of festivities
planned for the July 4th weekend.
Hundreds of other signature events are scheduled throughout
the Centennial year, including the city's official 100th
Birthday celebration on May 15, featuring the world's
largest birthday cake, the rebirth of Las Vegas' historical
Helldorado Days rodeo and parades, a 100 weddings extravaganza
event, as well as the creation of a Centennial Time
Capsule, which will feature signature artists from Las
Vegas Centennial Records.
